Knitting through the back loop of the stitch creates a very different look.
Knitting through the back loop of the stitch creates a very different look. This is a frequent event for a new knitter when the first stitch comes off the left needle. How the stitch is put back on the left needle matters. Getting it wrong will result in a twisted stitch.
Putting it back on the left needle with the right leg on top so that it matches the other stitches on the left needle. (It is important to know that there are many different ways to make knit stitches and some of those ways will have the left leg on top, so be sure to note what is correct for you!)
A twisted stitch can be created on purpose by knitting into the back leg of that first stitch on the left needle.
