Materials: Worsted weight yarn and size 8 needles
Gauge: 4 stitches = 1 inch

With size 8 needles, and worsted weight yarn, cast on 74 stitches.

Begin with a knit row, knit 34 rows in stockinette stitch (knit 1 row, purl 1 row)

The next row is a decrease row. Knit 2 stitches together across the row. (37 stitches remain)

The next row, purl across.

One more decrease row - knit 2 stitches together across the row, end by knitting the last remaining stitch. (19 stitches)

Purl another row.

Break off yarn, leaving a long end. Thread end of yarn through these 19 stitches, pull up tight and secure.

Join seam, reversing seam on first 2 inches.
