Duplicate stitch is tracing over the knitted stitches with contrasting yarn. It can be used to add decorative borders on finished sweaters, monograms, small areas of color in Intarsia.
It can also be used as a cover for stains or rips in older sweaters.
This was my favorite class as I could see the comprehension in the students eyes as they realized how the yarn was traveling in the knitted fabric.
